Joseph Buccilli

Date of Ordination: February 13, 1999
Current Assignment: Hospital/Nursing Ministry

Beginning in my childhood and throughout my lifetime, I have celebrated being a baptized Roman Catholic, which was proactively nurtured among our large Italian-American family by our faith-filled mother and father.

As I grew older, I continued works of Christ-centered charity which I had consistently witnessed in the unconditional acts of love of the ‘sisters of mercy’ who taught me in elementary school; in the ‘pallotines’ as I was spiritually maturing during my high school years, in ‘military chaplains’ while I served in the United States Air Force/Germany and in ‘Dominican and Franciscan’ missionaries while I served in Peace Corps/Brazil.

I have been involved in years of ‘hands-on’ service, as I have professionally labored with multitudes of our Lord’s “lost sheep”.

I have been committed to sustaining an enriched spiritual life, through my prayer life, the sacraments, and ongoing spiritual direction.

From the onset of my diaconal discernment process, my spouse has remained my most constructive support of my vocation.

My desire to remain invested in not only the corporal works but the spiritual works of mercy then merged with my life’s activities which directed me towards this holy sacrament, as I responded, being ordained a deacon, a herald and a light-bearer for the blessed trinity in 1999.
